"MIATAAAA" (miataaaa)

So here's the deal. I test drove one of these. Specifically the P85 model that does 0-60 in 4.2 seconds.
I DD a Miata. And I always swore I would never want a car without a manual shifter. So I drive a Miata with a 6 speed and an old Matrix XRS with a 6 speed. And I love every minute of it.
And the Tesla Model S blew my mind.
Pieces of my mind can be found around the proximity of the King of Prussia mall. The car is fantastic.
Drive one (ask for the P85 model, specifically) and try to tell me it didn't put a smile on your face when you floor it and your head flies back as the car makes almost no sound except for a little whir from the back motors that make you feel like your guiding the Enterprise at warp speed.
It's worth it.
Not literally, of course, since the car I drove stickered at $124,000. But if the P85 listed for $60,000, I'd start saving those pennies today.
I was too excited to take pictures - sorry. Not a huge loss.
EDIT: I did some light research and found that, the P85 I drove must have been equipped with every freaking option from alcantara everything to fog lights and carbon fiber spoilers. The P85 can be had for $83,570. One penny just went in the jar.

oh matrix xrs. so unloved.
But definitely wins the award for "most unlikely car to feature an 8K redline." So automatic cool points.

Nice post. Glad the Model S lived up to the hype for you.
This car shows what American companies are capable of when they set out to do something new. Silicon Valley was the only place in the world capable of making this car at this time.

But without a manual would you still even want it?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's better without it.

I might be one of the few who got sidelined for the 85 model - I still love every second of it.
